I always hear how Billions of people from almost every country in the World watch the Super Bowl (the American Football Championship in early Febuary each year). I really wonder if this is even close to being true. For you non-americans out there:

1) Is the Super Bowl actually on TV in your country?
2) Do you or any of your friends watch it?

I think I may have watched last year's SuperBowl on cable TV in India. First time, I've watched much of an American football game. My preferred code of football is rugby league.

It is shown on TV here. None of my friends or colleagues know anything about American football. I am always surprised to hear that it is watched by so many outside the US. There is very little interest in the sport in the UK.

We have the Superbowl here in Canada, and people pack into sports bars to watch the spectacle.

What we don't have, though, are the American Superbowl commercials. Due to CRTC (tv/radio/blah-blah) regulations, we have to show Canadian commercials. So unless you have an illegal satellite hookup, you're out of luck.

Hey Wocca,

This is a little off topic (its still sports related) but the folks in China must be pretty happy. Last night Yao Ming played an unbelievable game (he made 13 of the 14 shots he took and made all 7 of his freethrows) and his team won the 2nd straight playoff game to go up (2-0).

That's what I always think...I find it so hard to believe that many people outside of the USA actually watch it but they're always saying that all these people watch it. You get the impression that people in New Guinea are gathered around some TV in the Village routing for the Eagles :)

Yao Ming is the main focus for NBA coverage here in China.

In South America, most people dont care for American Football all that much. Not only do they not understand what the game is about but it isnt widely televised either.

I watched it last year but I think I was the only one in Norway.... a bit of a sports nut so try and watch most big games of just about any sport :)

But I am bigger fan of NBA basketball... especially this time of year!!!
