Quoting Borisborough

Yes, you could do London to Edinburgh in ten days if you stop at pretty much every place to explore on the way. Alternatively, if there are no jams or road works, you can do it in little over seven hours.

You might want to think about what a 'road trip' is Borisborough. It does not simply refer to the driving time from A to B. Here is what I think is a pretty good explanation of what a road trip encompasses. http://matadornetwork.com/notebook/15-moments-that-define-a-road-trip/

I've been fortunate to experience quite a few road trips and none of them were simply driving from A to B. Thank goodness for that.

I think London - Edinburgh is far from the best use for 10 days road trip though. Aside from a few decent stops like York, Lincoln and Durham, a lot of it is miles to just be covered in getting to the good stuff. Now ten days looping up from Edinburgh, now that could be a good trip.

Doh!

I know what a road trip is. I also know that a road trip through Croatia, Spain, Italy and Greece doesn't include Edinburgh to London - I did actually take the time to read the original post.

I was once started on a road trip from England to Greece and got from Norwich to the town of Faversham, nearing Dover, before fate stepped in and my route took a U-turn which resulted in my going to Edinburgh.

My point being, that a road trip does not necessarily end up going where you originally planned to go. That is all part of what a road trip is about. You never know where you will end up, why and for how long. I consider any travel that goes exactly as expected not a failure but having probably missed out on something. ;)

A 'good' road trip Andyf, is one where you go and do the unexpected and yes Borisborough, a road trip through Croatia, Spain, Italy and Greece might well take you to Edinburgh and London. IF you let it.

If I could be bothered I'd point out that a road trip through Croatia, Spain, Italy and Greece which includes Edinburgh and London is in fact a road trip through Croatia, Spain, Italy, Greece AND BRITAIN. And a 'good' road trip might or might not include the unexpected and a road trip that does include the unexpected might not necessarily be good.

But I really can't be bothered - a mauling by a lion has more appeal.

Some get it, some don't Borisborough. Obviously, you don't.
