The only feasable way to enter Burma is by plane. Pretty easy form Bangkok. Like Uncle J points out, it's almost immpossible to enter by land.

Avoid Iraq (though you have to miss a lot of things) & Afgnistan due to security measurements.

Quoting Travel100

I've been to Burma 3 times. A long time ago they had a 7 day limit, now it's 28/days. It's also very easy and straight forward to get the Burmese visa. It's also an easy country to travel around and the people there are the nicest & friendliest I've ever met anywhere in the World.

Thank you for the information about the change in the number of days allowed on a visa to Burma. I applaud the Burmese government for finally encouraging tourism in this rather secretive country even if the military is in complete control. I would invite anyone who wishes to travel to Burma to go online and read the travel warnings coming from the US Dept of State in light of two recent bombings (April & May, 2005) in heavily populated tourist areas in Rangoon and Mandalay. I will forego my desire to travel to or through Burma for now. There are simply too many other countries in the Far East where I would feel much safer (Thailand, Viet Nam to name two).
