I love to read books on the road and when I get home;

Here's my top 3 Fictional travel characters:

1) Richard - The Beach by Alex Garland

2) Elsie - You Are Here by Steve Horsfall

3) Tansy - Backpack by Emily Barr

Who are you favourites?

I'm looking for new books to read too

Does Billy Pilgrim from Slaughterhouse 5 count? He travelled back and forth to Trafalmadore, somewhere in outer space...

er, Tintin ?! Do you know, the French comic book character Tintin, Milou (the dog) & capitaine Hadock?! (unless they are Belgians...?)

I like "Indian Jones," was he a book character before he became a movie star?

Oh yeah! Tintin rocks. I saw a poster once in Montreal. It was Tintin, standing at a bar looking dishelved (probably drunk). His little dog was looking at a glass of slipt whisky. It was a great poster (I am sure that if the creator of Tintin saw it, he would probably sue, but that's neither here nor there...)

I guess we could add Johnny Quest to the list.

Arthur Dent from Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy.

I'm blanking on others. I tend to read non-fiction travel, so most of the people I am thinking of are real.

I love him! Well, to be specific, I love Alex Garland and his novel. Simply brilliant.

Hmmm... maybe. But he wasn't a fictional character. Although, one never knows.
