When I travel I really enjoy "people watching." Does anyone else also enjoy people watching?

What are your favorite places to just hang out and watch the World go by?

My personal favorites are:

1) Anywhere in Amsterdam. I really enjoy hanging out canal side or at the many outdoor cafes on the squares and just watch everything that's happening.

2) The Golden Temple in Yangoon (Rangoon), Myanmar (Burma). I love going there around sunset and wandering around the Temple complex (it's a pretty big area all around the main stupa). I find it to be a very "spiritual and peaceful" place, and can hang out for hours soaking up the atmosphere.

I love the Gerrard Inlet in Vancouver, by the Pacific Ocean. I can peer from above, by Burnaby Mtn. or below, on the docks, watching the boats, or the Seawall.

peace,

Steph

When I was little, I used to try and imagine where everyone in airports were going. The man with a briefcase was of course a spy with top secret information in his case...etc(What I imagined was always much more exciting when I was a kid;))...Now anywhere I go I people watch, and try to imagine what their lives are like, where they are off too in such a rush, why they are yelling at the kids, why they keep looking at their watch...etc....

The local shopping mall is my usual spot. You tend to see all walks of life. A close second would be the local coffee shop.

Is that before or after buying more platinum-zippered jeans???

1) Chicago - now that I don't live there anymore, I'm not in the same rush everyone else. I love watching people on the streets (no, I don't mean the homeless).

2) Beaches - anywhere. I always find it strange when coming across female sunbathers who have removed their tops, but always put them back on to enter the water. (Afraid of fish nibbles? I haven't quitr figured that one out...)

3) Airports - I love watching the people but also the planes as they take off and land.

At home, I love to people-watch on St. Denis Street. It's a trendy but relaxed place where people constantly walk by. I love to sit outside and watch people go by, to see how they interact, how they treat each other, how they treat strangers, etc. etc.

I loved poepl-watching in Paris, especially. Something to do when you travel alone, because it never feels like a waste of time. I always come away feeling like I know the people a little better, because I've been watching them unawares.

Nay, im too self-obsessed to pay any attention to others. But when travelling overseas on buses and trains, i like to take the window seat and stare outside.

Maybe they know something you don't, wouldn't want to you to find out whatever they know the hard way .
