Hey! Has anyone ever flown Iberia before? I can't seem to find any positive reviews anywhere online. The reason I'm asking is I found an INCREDIBLE deal on Iberia's website for a flight from Boston to Johannesburg (via Chicago and Madrid). It's something like $908 roundtrip including all the taxes!
If anyone has flown with them, please tell me about what I can anticipate!
I never flew Iberia Air, but since (I think) you're going to Namibia, ask Iberia what the fare is to Namibia (and compare it to the price to J-Berg). Last your I got a really incredible fare on South African air (think it was $899/(r/t) form Phila.,via Atlanta or JFK). I could add on to go to Windhock for only $100 extra.
The fare of $908 is excellent (so just check and see if they can get you to Namibia cheaper than you trying to find another flight).
By the way, the flight is LONG, and kind of miserable, no matter who you fly with. I had heard good things about South Africa Air and they didn't feed us for 13 hours STRAIGHT during the flight. So the flight over will not be a highlight, it's just tooo long to be pleasant.
Iberia offers a basic service, so if you're used to other airlines, especially Asian airlines, you're bound to be disappointed. I flew with Iberia to Mexico last year. We were served only 1 meal on an 11-hour flight, the flight attendants were downright rude, we were shown half a movie and I was given a dirty blanket. Apart from that, the flight itself was cheap and it got us there safely!
Iberia? in last three years I've flown Manchester - Madrid - Mexico City and twice to Buenos Aires. No complaqints at all. Spanish friends all tell me that internal flights in Spain the service has fell off but I've had good experiences on long haul.To be honest I do get the impression that a little spanish helps you get the stewardesses on side!
Iberia is one of my favourite airlines I have ever flown with!!!!I thought the service was great, the stewards and stewardesses were so helpful and friendly and the airline meal I got was by far the best airline food Ive ever been served!!!!Ive flown with tehm 3 times and everytime Ive been really impressed!!!!We got a big lunchbox type thing and the food was really nice and there was a lot of it!as well as being given hot sandwiches!!!and that was only on a 3 hour flight!!!!Id definatley reccomend!!!!
Well thats good to hear....I'm due to fly to Cancun with them in a few months, and I was a bit concerned by the early posts....it would still be worth it tho
My only experience with Iberia is their Madrid to Barcelona shuttle. The 2 class planes are usually full with businessmen and they manage to serve everyone a snack and beverage in about 30 minutes. Quite a feat.
I've flown to many times with Iberia, mainly to South america, cause I used to lived there, and I have no complaints as all.
- The flights have always been on time. I've never been delayed
- The air hostesses have always been friendly, helpful and polite
- They have been accomodating with last minute date changes
- The hostesses were really helpful when I forgot to book a vegetarian meal
- They have never lost my luggage
The planes are not quite as nice as those of BA, American or Continental but over all I think they are a perfactly acceptable airline to travel with.
GRRRR! Sorry for everyone who has good things to say about Iberia but I need to vent some frustration here! We flew with them to Rio and were told about half an hour before we boarded that the staff on the ground had gone on strike. As we stepped on the plane we were all handed a flimsy plastic bag of minging food which had to last the whole journey! Also there was no in-flight entertainment but they couldn't even turn off the bloody screen - it was left on all fuzzy! And it wasn't even a one off disaster!! On our flight home we were delayed in both chile and madrid and i had to start university in england the next day! Was not a happy bunny
