My boyfriend and I have a major dilemma. My boyfriend was born in Gambia, but has been an American citizen for over 15 years. His family is pressuring him to marry a woman in Gambia so that means he can't be with me. He said, if he doesn't go with his tradition, then bad things can happen not only to him, but his family too. He literally has no choice but to succomb to his culture and it's not fair. He wants to be with me and there isn't any other way he can say no. What can I do? What can we do? I just can't let him go and doesn't want to let me go either. This pains me so bad because we love each other and he shouldn't have to do this if he's not even a Gambian citizen anymore. I need advice please.

I don't think a travel forum is the place to find answers to this.

What are we supposed to tell you? He has to make up his mind whether he wants to fight for your love and lose his family, or submit to his family tradition and lose you. A hard decision.

From our Western point of view his situation is impossible to understand.
