Hey T,

We stayed in an apartment in Budapest last year for a week and it was fantastic. We stayed at the 'Napoleon House Apartment' booked through Travellerspoint. It was a studio apartment with kitchen and bathroom, nothing overly fancy, but great to be able to make your own food. The location was perfect, just down the street from the Opera. I would imagine you could find cheaper places a bit out of the center though.

Two years ago I stay for three time in City Center Apartments (http://www.citycentreapartments.hu/english/). I reccomend you, because they are cheap and clean, they have confortable rooms in very good and many locations in Budapest. You can contact they directly by e-mail and try to find out where is adequate to stay depending on your travel purpose. They can take up from the airport or railway station.
Me, I was very happy with their accomodation. I celebrate two New Years Eve in Budapest and I participate at the Sziget Festival. Beeing in a good location, I had the posibility to visit the entire Budapest, also.
