kelly126 has indicated that this thread is about Costa Rica

I will be traveling all over Costa Rica for about a month but im debating whether or not I should travel to the caribbean coast because it is a little out of the way considering the rest of my itinerary. If there was a road directly across the South Pacific to the South Caribbean it would work out perfectly but I have no knowledge of one. Can someone tell me if the caribbean side is a lot different than the pacific coast or if it's a must to travel there while I'm in Costa Rica? Thanks

The whole country is not that big. I really liked Tortuguero, which is in the Northeast very close to the Caribbean Coast. Never went to the Pacific Coast but thought I'd mention that I thought Tortuguero was worth a visit.

if you only have a month in Costa Rica, it would be such a shame to miss the Caribbean side! It is so completely different from the pacific - the people , the food, the atmosphere.... Unfortunately there are no bus routes directly from the pacific to the caribbean - you have to go through San Jose. depending on your itinery . places to visit are Cahuita - very chilled out, with a beautiful national park and beaches, cheap accomodation and food.Totuguero is a bit more difficult to reach but very beautiful. And of course Puerto Viejo - great nights out, beautiful beaches of Cocles, Punta Uva and Manzanillo, and incredibly freindly people. I love all of Costa Rica, but the Caribbean remains my favourite part! Hope this helps!
