Mrs Borisborough is looking at possibilities for December 2018/January 2019 and has suggested one possible activity; a hike up Mt Toubkal. Have any TP members done this hike at all and anybody in December? Details of any personal experiences would be welcomed please.
Personally I keep well away from Toubkal. The mountain is beautiful, but the surrounding area has been badly affected by tourism. Better to climb Mgoun, Morocco's second highest mountain, in splendid isolation and impeccable surroundings.
Thanks markwillen. I'll go for any experiences trekking up either Toubkal or Mgoun then please.
Actually I've just noticed you're planning to visit in winter... both peaks will be snowbound. They are big mountains, both over 4,000 metres - two and a half miles[/i] high! Walk in the valleys in winter, and bring plenty of warm clothing. Even the valleys are high, and nights can be very cold.
