I've had quite a few questions over the years on how to insert photos in blog entries, or do some blog entry formatting.

I decided it was about time to write a short article explaining what those little icons are above the text editor. This way, I have somewhere I can point people to when the question arises next. So here is my article explaining the blogging icons

Feel free to ask any questions in this forum thread. I'll post a link back to this thread from the article as well, so people can ask follow up questions.

Well done, Peter. This is excellent. Thank you!

(So from now on, we have no excuse for lousy layouts any more ;))

Thankyou! Just what I needed as I was having trouble getting some of them to work. :)

Thank you Peter. Is there a way to get text beside just one photo when the photo is larger than the text? I normally would just add spaces to get the next text underneath the photo, but can't seem to add extra spaces here. Long strings of photos seem odd to me but you can only write so much. Any help appreciated.

It seems to me that float right or left only works around thumbnails .. is that true?

I've been able to use it around regular photos. It might depend on the template you are using.

Thank you so much Peter!!!!!

Very very helpful!!! And it is a lot of fun to play with the functions and the blogging itself :-) So far... even if I might be stoned by fellow former VTers: the axing of VT has the positive aspect that we not only found a new home but can also continue writing, in a nicer, more sequential way :-)
Plus, the fabulous photo properties :-)

Yes, I've wondered that too. I'd like to be able to leave a few lines blank after some paragraphs so that the next one starts below the photo rather than also alongside, especially if I am moving on to a slightly different topic or want to insert a heading. I did try to fudge it in one entry by using some symbols on the empty line (*** or similar, I think) but that looks too much like a complete break in the flow, which isn't necessarily what I need.

And Ingrid, I won't stone you as I agree!

Oops, forgot to say - thank you Peter, a very helpful reference guide :)

One thing I've done which works nicely and you might want to add is that centering and right/left align can be used for photos as well as text.
