Hey Xanthe welcome to the site, you'll hopefully find loads of helpful stuff here!
For each of the countries I suggest you do a forum search in the appropriate place for specific things to do and see,
As for tips and advice this is a great place to be! people will even tell you what to pack if you so desire!;)
have you got any specific questions?

just go and enjoy. First week is maybe difficult, second week is better .....You will learn every day!! Before you go you should do some reading about the asian culture (their habits for instance). This forum is great for you, ask as much questions as you need!! 3 years I travelled a few months trough India on my own. It has many benefits to go on your own. You have much more contacts with the locals and you meet lots of other travellers to go with. Kind regards, wouter

following on from Massageuk, I would actually recommend taking the smallest backpack you can manage with. I've already downsized my pack once when the first one gave up as even though i hadn't taken much i kept finding that i was filling it up. I've found it much easier to post souveniers and gifts home rather than lugging them about on my back.
