Hi

Am in the process of daydreaming about a holiday to South America. Although I'm a while off going I'm trying to get an idea of how much money I'll need before heading off.

Am having difficulty finding information on the cost of flights. In particular I'd be looking at flying from either La Paz to Buenos Aires or La Paz to Santiago.

If anyone could give me a ball park figure, that'd be great. Any other information/advice you feel could be of use would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks very much :)

the flights about $US 250 each

daily expence in Bolivia about $US30 Chile $US 40 Chile is great but not inexpensive. There is a lot to do. I just spent 2 and half months there. It was great. If you want to study Spanish I would do that in Sucre, Bolivia it is a great town.

If you want to go to Patagonia in Chile it really is best to go during their Summer... Nov-Feb.

Bolivia is great and can be very inxpensive if you want it to, but as for places to say danger and less cost walk hand in hand.

Make the trip it is worth it

I have to say, if you are generally wise you will have no probs in Bolivia. Obviously do not wander the streets like a gringo alone at night, get cabs if you go places, that cost like $0.25 anywhere and you will be fine. You can just be unlucky, but that can happen at home too cant it. I felt safer in La Paz than at home in my town of Watford on a night out. My accommodation cost me a genaral price for the night of $1, good showers, clean rooms etc. I spent on a huge meal a day, about $2-$3, and on a night out i took roughly $12, that left me legeless it was that cheap, that was in La Paz, Uyuni, Tupiza, Potosi.

La Paz I have heard is one of the most expensive airports to fly from, i mean to London one way just out of interest I found out was $1200. ouch.
I loved Bolivia so so so much and would advise anyone to go there, just make sure you watch your bags and are not stupid and youll love it!!

Thanks guys! I'm grateful for any info you can provide.

We are planning on travelling for 6 weeks and so far on my wish list I'm wanting to go to:

Ecuador (to see the Amazon)
Peru (for the Inca Trail)
Bolivia (because I've always wanted to go there)
Argentina, specifically Buenos Aires (and to see Iguazo Falls)

Of course this isn't all we want to see and do, but it is the very bare bones of an itinerary. We'd travel by land as much as possible but would have to fly down to buenos Aires.

Do you think this is possible in six weeks or will it be rather tight?

I think it would be possible but it is true, the time you have is quite short. You could rush it, and most people will reply to this saying well do 1 country or 2 detailed and go back and do the others at a later date.
I can acknowledge that sometimes it isnt that easy at all to go back and do the countries you missed out, so go for it and do your basic plan. The only thing is is that you will prob have to keep to a very strict plan, and if you here about something that is amazing not be able to as your plan is strict with the little time you have.

Have fun!
