I am wanting to know if my wife and I should go to Brussels? We are planning a 60 day trip to Europe: England,France,Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Czech-Rep. and Holland. We will be going and going but plan to break that up by 5 day stays and two day stays. We want to take in as much as possible and constantly move to new places but stay longer when we want to. Any tips and or suggestions would be helpful.
Hi again, mikeklek!
I was in Belgium for only two days, but I'm glad I got to see it. Brussels was beautiful - the Grand Place is breathtaking and the city itself has that old-world, mysterious, 200-beers-on-tap feel.
If you get a chance, though, try to see Brugge - it's just over an hour away by train. They call it "Venice of the north" and with good reason. It's laced with canals and beautiful architecture. It was breathtaking!
So, yes - I'd recommend Belgium, if you can squeeze it in!
Although Brussels is really nice and has some good museums and art galleries, I prefer Brugges, its so lovely! If you have the time then both are worth visiting, and Brugges is quite small so you wouldn't need to spend too long there.
