I suggest you make a map here on TP with those cities .. the map will have a 'view on Planner' link .. click it & then scroll down for transport options .. decide what is best for your style of travel.

Change the order of cities to visit depending on where you want to go to first & where to leave from..

Play with the map .. research each city to find what interests you.

Come back here to ask specific questions.

Steve

Additionally, search your flights by best prices/times into/out of Amsterdam, Rome and Barcelona.

You might look at flying to Amsterdam, taking a train to Paris, a train or plane to Barcelona, flying to Rome, and flying home from there. But that type of transport you take and order of cities can depend on your budget and amount of time you have to this trip.

Definitely take a train between Amsterdam and Paris, though.

Fly into Amsterdam, train to Paris, train or fly to Barcelona, train or fly to Rome and fly home from Rome.

Check connections on the train. If it takes more than 5 hours, you might be better off flying. If less than 5 hours on the train, the train would be better, easier and more pleasant.

How much time do you have for this trip? Seeing four large and very interesting cities in less than two or three weeks would be difficult. If you only have a week or two, consider cutting either Barcelona or Rome (or both) from your itinerary.

Just some thoughts. Enjoy your trip.

Good advice, but for my money Rome and Barcelona are more interesting than Paris and Amsterdam.

Dear All,

Thank you for your valuable inputs. It was really helping me do the planning in good time. I am planning to travel in August and duration of stay is only 20 days. I will consider all your inputs to get the best out of my little time to visit those beautiful cities.

Choose according to your travel style that which place you like to visit and when. Then book all hotels and you can also take help from any local agency so that it will save your time and cost.

A typical sleeper bus looks like this. Yes, they provide you with the bed sheets and a pillow. But how sure are you that they clean it after every use?

Lets say, they don’t wash it everyday but they make sure it ‘looks’ clean. So now, you are gonna sleep on the bed used by someone else. Do you know how clean that person was?

You are gonna place your head on the place where he/she might have placed his oily and dirty hair, you are gonna cover yourself with the bed sheets someone used the previous night? Did you notice how clean they were? Are you sure they had no skin allergies? And, you are gonna place your cheeks where someone who has a drooling problem(unintentional spillage of saliva from the mouth) slept. How gross are these?

Wanna avoid all of these? Carry your own bed sheet. Don't use the ones they provide. And what about the towel I mentioned? You can’t roam around carrying the pillows just because I said someone ‘might’ have had drooling problem, right? This is when towel saves you. Cover the pillow with the towel and then sleep on the towel.

This way, you are gonna avoid the direct contact with the unwanted substances you wanted to avoid. These might seem silly now, but take precautions before they come and hit you in a long run!

Stay Healthy. Stay Clean.
