I've been asked to obtain a police clearance certificate/record using Form SA1A (Data protection Act) from my local police station as part of my working holiday visa application.
Has anybody else had to do the same for their applications? If so, how long does it take? The form says they must by law respond within 40 working days, but I wondered if the turn-around time was in actual fact typically quicker than that.
Yep I've just had to get my certificate from my local police. It was a long time coming - I reckon it was at least 4-5 weeks from initial application until the other day it came (clean as well!). That?s my story but other forces might take different amounts of time.
Hope this helps.
I had to send off for one and it took about 5 weeks to come back, so plan well in advance, because if you do have a conviction it will take about a month and a half for your visa to be granted.
Do you mean ANOTHER month and a half from the point when I get the certificate back and send it to the immigration office? Or a month and a half total, including getting the certificate?
NB: yes I do have a record, but I've been told my particular circumstances shouldn't stop me getting the visa.
Yes my visa took another month on top of the 4 / 5 weeks I had to wait to get the police clearance thing.
Bah! ... Oh well... thanks a lot. At least I know.
