I just mouthed off at a guy. I'm a 5 foot 4 inch, slender-built female who just yelled at a 6 foot something, burly guy for being a rude bastard.

Once I got in my car and drove off I thought that wasn't such a good idea. Had it been in a less public place I believe he would have harmed me if given the chance. He could have even followed me home.

Have you ever done something similar? Ever put yourself in a position that you wished you hadn't or put your own life in danger?

When I was in Antibes, France a few years ago doing a language course a friend and I went to St. Tropez for the day and chatted up this guy who ended up stalking us for about a week. He drove for 2 hours to see us. Fortunately, the school we were staying at had good security.

When I was in Bangkok I got in an actual fight with a taxi driver who was trying to cheat me. We went in the lobby of the hotel I was staying to try and resolve it but we were getting nowhere. He would not give me my change (the amount over the meter reading) so eventually I lost my temper, and pushed him. He went about flying into the corner, knocked over all the plants, etc.. Then he got up, ripped a telephone out of the wall and hit me in the face with it (that hurt). The good news is he dropped the money when I pushed him so he ending up getting paid ZERO! But he also went outside and came back in the hotel with a large pole, at first I thought he had gotten a sword (guess I've watched too many Kun Fu movies). I picked up a chair, but fortunately some people got in between us.

It could have been worse so looking back I should have just walked away, but I HATE being cheated by taxi drivers. Many places around the World I've encountered dishonest taxi drivers. In fact, often I'll walk a long distance rather than even dealing with them.

Also: If they won't use the meter, I NEVER will begin a ride without agreeing on the price first.

Thought of another one. One time when I was in Athen's there was a fire in my hotel. Someone banged on my door and we all ran outside (it was very late at night). As I was standing outside, realizing that I had nothing but the clothes on my back, I got the sudden urge to go back in to get my passport, money, etc.. So that's what I did, my room was on around the 4th floor. On the way down I had to run past actually flames (not just smoke). I realize this was s stupid thing to do, but have to admit, I was a lot more relaxed and happy watching the fire with my passport and money in my hand.

Me and 5 friends were in a bar minding our own business in Israel when an American sailor asked if our 6 biggest guys wanted to fight there 6 biggest guys. They had lots and lots of 6ft + built like Arnie Shwarzenneger types and a whole bar full of them (maybe about 60 of them) a total mismatch. The guy who asked was a bit of a wimp, but one of my friends stupidly said we were up for the challenge on the condition that the guy who asked was one of there 6!! Well, this guy went off to recruit 5 buddies, and they all told him he was an idiot, came to apologise and we ended up having some beer with a crowd of them. The guy who had done all the talking was, by all accounts, an idiot and usually done this, and was usually ignored by his colleagues, but at the time my friend said yes, i thought we were in for a real good hiding. I suppose sometimes it pays to be brave, but i think on this occassion we were lucky that the village idiot turned out to be the troublemaker.

Just to clarify - we had to choose our biggest 6 out of a group of 6 of us!!!!!

Haha! Angela posted too! Like her I've got a few stalker stories. I'd forgotten about those.

You guys are so funny! The taxi one is hilarious!

One of my stalker/creepy guy stories:

When I was at uni I met a Columbian guy. He was really nice and friendly and had a funny accent. He wasn't really attractive at all and I didn't like him one bit. I was just being friendly to him because we shared a few classes and I thought he'd be a good study buddy.

As the weeks went on he started to become touchy-feely and started declaring his love for me. It started getting really creepy. I'd end up going to class late so that I could see where he was sitting and place myself as far away as possible. During the 5 minute break in class he would come and sit next to me and try to hold my hand. Sometimes I'd skip class altogether because it was getting so weird.

In an attempt to get him to leave me alone I told him I was engaged to my bf. That didn't work! In the end I made a scene at the start of a lecture and told him to "F*** Off". A lot of people saw and I think he was embarrassed. He never showed up to that class again and when I saw him around at uni he would wave at me but not approach me.

I guess my life wasn't really in danger but then again, what would have happened if he had the opportunity to be alone with me? His advances in public were so forward that they scared me.

ok soupsuds,

I'll admit I haven't got any stalker stories. In fact, I've never even been stalked :( .

Somehow I think you're not the girl to mess with . Kinda of tough for 5'4" .
