Hi,

I am looking for advice from anyone one who has driven between Seattle and San Diego. We have three and a half days to make the trip and we have a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old. We love to hike, camp, and I love to take pictures. Where would you suggest we stop to stretch our legs/camp/eat that is kid friendly and offers great picture opportunities?

Thank you,
eehirst

That's over 1000 miles and if you're headed into Yosemite, it won't all be on dual carriageway highways. That means you will have some slower driving. You don't have time to do a lot of sightseeing on that schedule. I'd say take lots of photos in Gig Harbor, Portland, Yosemite and San Diego and be thankful to get where you're going with two tiny children. It will be a beautiful drive, just very long.

If you're looking for campgrounds, try KOA. They are always clean and well cared for. We've used them a lot. They are a bit commercial, but very handy when you are in a hurry. The ones near national parks are usually very nice. They also have Kamping Kabins which are great if you don't want to pitch a tent . . . although these days I guess most people use RVs. We're still tenters . . .

Have a fun trip and come back some time when you have more time. There are some spectacular places along the route to visit but they are off the Interstate highways and take time in and out and to visit while you are there.

Have a good trip.
