Good places for kids in Asia

Travel Forums Asia Good places for kids in Asia

The wife wants to go somewhere next year with her sister and her (3yo) kid. We live in Taipei, they live in Jakarta so it's got to be somewhere in Asia?

I was thinking Johor in Malaysia, because of Thomas Land (my nephew likes Thomas), the petting zoo and Legoland. Or Hong Kong for Disneyland.

Any other suggestions?

Tourists bring kids to Bangkok all the time. Bangkok should be cheaper than Hong Kong. Google up things to do for kids and see if there is anything you find interesting.

If it makes a difference, Thailand is very popular with mainland Chinese. (Around twice as many Chinese as Malaysia the second largest source of foreign tourists.)

(You probably don't have to sped big money on very little kids. A year later they usually can't remember anything they looked at anyway.)

Up to you.

Bangkok is an interesting idea. I've never been there so will be nice to go and never considered it for kids since I always associate Bangkok with a more of an adult destination.

I'll look into it. Might be a good choice since Johor, for me seemed a bit boring.

Cheers.

Go to Malaysia!! But not Johor, it's a bit boring and dirty there. If you want to take your kids there, Penang, Kuala lum pur, and maybe Langkawi for some islands. I guarantee you it'll be cleaner, nicer, and they have much better food in those three areas:)

I'm a big fan of Malaysian Borneo - Bako National Park, Kinibitangan River, Sepilok, Mulu National Park - the wildlife (proboscis monkeys, langur monkeys, orang utans, pygmy elephants, snakes, scorpions, spiders) is brilliant and kids seem to love it. Air Asia flights are cheap from KL to Kuching and they flight to Kota Kinabalu (and possibly Sandakan) too.

I thought Johor purely because I know Jordie would like Thomas Land (He's obsessed with Thomas) even though it does sound a boring place overall.

KL I found boring personally. Didn't enjoy it at all.

Kota Kinabalu looks nice. Ill check out some of the other Malaysian places too.

Cheers

Singapore is just across the causeway from Johor Bahru, so you get two-for-one. Gardens by the Bay is worth visiting, for young and old(er) alike.

Plus it's convenient to fly from CGK and TPE to SIN. Singapore is a major gateway so you can easily get to wherever else you want to go in Asia.

There is a great Dinsneyland in Tokyo!
And the country is super safe!
