On your blog settings page, there's a setting "Show travel map on every page" with the options "No Trips Showing", "Show All Trips", and then a list of individual trips. I suspect you currently have it set to the tripname of your previous trip, and will want to change that either to your current trip, or to "Show All Trips".

Besides that, you can also insert a map view into individual blog entries as you write them, to highlight a specific stop or segment of the trip.

You can have multiple blogs. I certainly do. You do need to give each one a distinct name so it will appear separately.

I assume there is a limit as to how many blogs one may write, but I've searched and can't find a number. I currently have six and have started adding to three of them just to avoid creating another one. My original idea was to create a separate blog for each trip, but I believe the site was conceived with the idea of an ongoing travel blog.

There used to be a limit to the number of blogs you could create. I got rid of it recently to cater to the Travelpod members since many of them have a blog for each trip and it needed to deal with that.

Hi Peter. Thank you. I think most of us from Virtual Tourist would view each trip as a separate blog too. It's just easier, especially when trips run into months and start to cover a period of 20+ years. I have tried to consolidate trips, especially to Paris by adding Tips at the end.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness. :)

But - is there a way to have different maps if one blog is about more than one trip, for example map 1 displayed on entries 1-15, map 2 on entries 16-25, map 3 on entries 26-35...?

The way of doing that is by inserting the map into the actual entry rather than just fixing it to the top of the blog. The little globe icon in the toolbar can be used to insert a map. It gives a lot more control, since you can also choose where the map is zoomed in to so you can highlight a stop on your trip that way.

Thank you Peter, that sounds good. In particular the highlighting of one place. I'll check that out!

Another question... Is there a way to have a map with just pins, without connecting lines between the locations?
For example: my blog about Alemannic Fastnacht: http://alemannicfastnacht.travellerspoint.com/ describes various places in a small region without an actual route or itinerary. The connecting lines make the map quite messy, it would be easier to handle if it had just the dots. Is there a way? (If not,may I add that to the wish list?)

It's not possible. But one of these days I'll need to make some map improvements and that can definitely be on the list :)
