New York - here we come! Maybe!
We're planning to head that way during the first full week of June for 2 or 3 days. But I can't seem to lower our costs to anything under $500 Canadian for 2 - which seems a little exaggerated for a couple of days away.
The biggest cost is transportation: the cheapest so far is Greyhound @ $140 CAN apiece (no student discount available, for some reason).
Has anyone heard of a cheaper way between Montreal and New York? And, to boot, can anyone offer advice on keeping our budget to a minimum?
Anything you can share is much appreciated!
I heard the MET is free on Fridays. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Where's Anne when you really need her???? Traipsing around SE Asia on an elephant!!! That's where!!!
Have you tried a ride-share? There should be ride share boards at most the universities. Also, you might want to check out this site Rides in Montreal or one of the other things that come up on google.
Leave it till 1st week of july and you can hitch a ride in our hire car.Theres 3 of us flying from the uk to vancouver where we collect our car then we are driving to quebec then boston, new york and all round the states and back to vancouver
did you look at the companion fares for greyhound? the second person gets 75%off.
sorry, actually i don't think you can get the companion fare to new york. but you could see if its cheaper getting the companion fare to toronto and then a ticket to new york. the go anywhere fare for 125$ but thats not much savings.
I'd love to leave with you Reece, but unfortunately it's the first week of June or nothing! I've checked out a few ride-share pages, but so far no luck. I'll keep looking, though - I hadn't seen that site yet, Greg.
You know, once one gets a travel idea in one's head, it's damned hard to get it out. The little devil (or maybe it's the angel?) on my shoulder keeps saying "Five-hundred, schmive-hundred. You only live once!"
Tway will see you in montreal then
I heard you can return cars for car companies. I dont know which companies provides this job oppurtunity. I think they even pay you to do it.
