Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know about a fairly large update that will be happening over the next couple of weeks. The entire site will switch to be on https rather than http.

I'm starting the transition in the blogs as it's a somewhat smaller job doing that. You shouldn't really notice anything particularly different apart from that the browser will redirect you to the https protocol for your blog. So http://peter.travellerspoint.com will become https://peter.travellerspoint instead.

To make this work nicely, I'm reprocessing all the blog entries so that they all are loading photos off of https://photos.travellerspoint.com instead of http://photos... There are a bunch of other small things like that which need to be done as well.

Because of all the files that I'll need to change to make this work, there is always the chance that a bug slips in somewhere. If you notice anything that could be related please let me know.

As a side note - when this is done, it will fix the login problems where the browser ends up in a silly endless loop sometimes when you try to log in.

I expect the blog transition to https to be complete this week (maybe today even). The rest will probably be at least a week away.

Peter

Hi
Will this change apply to the code that is provided to embed the map on a website? Currently, the website builder I use (WIX) won't add the HTML code to embed the map on my website and it seems an HTTPS issue. I can however add the website link as that is now HTTPS.
Thank you.

I made the mistake to correct one typo in a blog entry and this is what has become of it: http://gemanyscalendar.travellerspoint.com/2/

All formatting has been transformed into HTML codes which are displayed as such.

Help...

Looks like it is better not to do any work on the blogs as long as the update hasn't been finished?

My formatting has changed in my latest published blog as well as above....

Oh dear, that's not good at all. I'm onto it!

Right, well those blog entries should be restored now. There were about 20 or so that had been edited since I made the change. You'll have to make whatever edits they were again because I had to restore back to the version of the blog entry prior to the edit. If it was a particularly big change, I do have a backup of the messed up version as well in case you need it.

Sorry about that.

Never mind, Peter, such things happen. Thank you for your help!
The change in mine was no big deal. I'll leave the typos in it now until you finished this big job. I'm pre-writing all my blog texts in Word files anyway.

Hi Michelle, the embed code provided currently is already https. Though there might be some media referenced by it which isn't which may be messing it up. If you are able to provide a page where I can see the problem, I could probably give a more detailed answer.

Yeah, it's never ending it seems :) Just a little envious of the awesome cycling adventure you're on. Would love to do that with my kids one day. I remember very fondly the cycling trips I went on as a teenager but they were never as long as the ones you've been doing.
