We are staying with family in one of the suburbs outside Sydney for a couple of weeks but have decided it would be a good idea to spend some time in Sydney itself and stay there for a bit. Only thing is we don't have a clue where we should stay as there are so many places, Bondi Beach has been recommended and Kutee beach i think so we will stay there but as for staying in the town itself we don't have a clue!
Please help! We could really do with some suggestions please?
I'm sure Sam will be along shortly to recommend Wakeup, but my personal favorite hostel in Sydney is Glebe Point YHA. Glebe is the neighbourhood right between university and the city center, and the street this hostel is on has a really awesome bohemian vibe. (Even if you decide not to go with this hostel, make certain to at least go and visit Glebe for a while.) Lots of little cafes and restaurants and used bookstores and such. (Yet no noise from these, as the hostel is just beyond where that ends.)
Facilities are topnotch, while the price is much lower than what you'd pay right in the citycenter. The best feature of the hostel itself is probably its awesome open rooftop area. I suspect the weather in Sydney right now is such that they've done away with the hammocks until the next summer, but still it's the perfect spot to sit with a cup of tea and contemplate life as the sun sinks away over the suburbs at the end of the day.
It's about a 15 minute walk from the hostel to Central Station and that end of the city center, but busses to there and further on into the city (straight to Circular Quay) go very frequently, especially during the day (think every 5-10 minutes). There's a large shopping mall with two large supermarkets right at the other end of Glebe Point Road (walking down the Broadway, it's on the left - the ramp leading up at the last sideroad before broadway), so that's quite convenient as well.
I think you mean Coogee, not Kutee.
Even though I live in Sydney, I can't recommend any place to stay in particular as I obviously live in my house. However Bondi, Coogee and also Glebe are quite central.
Kutee--hahahahaha!! nice one
I'm an Australian so I've never actually stayed in a hostel in Sydney - However my Geman and Austrian friends have and reccomend Wake Up! And the YHA on Geroge St (That one is smack bang in the middle of the CBD) cant get a better location than that!
When we were in Sydney we stayed in the Blue Parrot at Pott's Point, which I thought was pretty nice.
I stayed at the Blue Parrot too, loved it, you can chill if you want or party if you want.
Also stayed at Wake Up! last week for a week. Undoubtedly the best hostel i've stayed at in Oz
Be sure to make a trip to Manly!
IMO it is way better than Bondi or Coogee! Hell I've been here 5.5 months now!
