Hey there,

just a short question if maybe anybody else experienced this before.
We've just returned from a 6 months trip through Southeasasia. We majorly had local food except for the occasional Burger every couple of weeks :-) except for a parasaite incident in Kathmandu nothing really worth mentioning happened - stomachwise. (and of course the occasional too hot thai food aftermaths :-D)

We've returned 5 Days ago to germany - and both of us are suffering stomach pain ever since. Could it be that our body's are used now too much to "not so clean food" and can't deal with the sterile westerners food? Or does my body just tries to tell me to pack again and return ;-)

Did any of you experienced something similar? If yes - how long did it take?

CHeers

B.

Yes, you could have some parasite or other problem. If you home remedies don't work see a doctor for professional advice.

Sometimes it is not the food you eat but how clean your hands were when touching food. Out and about overseas, for me, immediately before touching food I use wet-wipes to clean my hands off. On the way to your place to eat you touch a lot of stuff that other people with dirty hands have touched. Contaminated hands can transfer all sorts of disgusting stuff to your mouth!

Hope things improve.

I haven't experienced that myself on return from a trip, but my friend suffered from stomach issues after returning home from Asia and was subsequently diagnosed with Giardia. It's definitely worth getting checked out by a doctor in case there's anything still lingering.
