I am spending 4 months in South America from the end of July.
I have booked flights to visit some of the places I want to see, but have decided to try and complete Quito to Santiago overland.
Would 5 weeks be enough time to do this also stopping to do the Inca trail and see lake Titicaca on the way?
Does anyone have any suggestions for a route?
Any help would be great!
Definitely check out northern Chile. I'm on my out so no time to type but check my travel log Chile (1999) to see some of the things I really liked there.
It's doable. I haven't done the Quito - Peru leg, but depending on what you want to see, you could do that in a week or week and a half then you could head up to Cusco and do the Inca Trail (1 week), from Cusco head to Lake Titicaca and onto La Paz (3-4 days), La Paz into Chile (1 day) and then have whatever time left over to get to Santiago in a week or a week in a half. Worst case, the bus from Arica, Chile to Santiago direct takes 30 hours.
