Hey lil_b

Can you combine your text lingo with some cockney rhyming slang?

LOL! Then it might as well be in the 'wing dings' font! I can only read english ;)

I'm with the proper english guys on this one. whoever thought that abbreviating words to text talk would be 'cool', unless your 13 years old and playing with your first mobile phone?!

Sorry Lil_b, it's a big bubear of mine too!

lil-b's text jargon is easy enough to decipher. It's considered cool in certain circles, especially illiterate youth.

"... Sorry, the bastardisation of the english language by txt tlk is my pet h8...."

The other thing that I find rather annoying is blog talk outside blogs. In my opinion, it's just another perceived form of "clever" imagination by those that engage in it.

I seem to have missed out on something massive here!

It'll probably sound stupid to everyone else but what is blogging?

Me, too! Our written language is our history and heritage. As annoying as they can be, the rules of grammer and punctuation that guide us ensure we communicate exactly what it is we want to say. Changing the way we spell just messes that up even further.

I sound like an old school marm with a tightly wound hair bun and a big, red pen - but the "bastardization" of the English language gets under my skin no end. Imagine if Shakespeare wrote "2 b r not 2 b". It would have bloody well have taken two years to read that in high school...

oh my dear dear Bronia...

many a time have i kindly asked her if she'd talk in 'proper English', as i used to have great trouble in reading her text messages and e-mails.
However i have now got used to it and understand her perfectly, although most people still have difficulties

she's a little star and one of the most genuine girls i've ever met.
