Hey,
Someone told me that you can't check yourself into a hotel (I'm staying in New York) unless you are 21.. just wondering if this is true?

Don't know about anything outside the U.S. though...

As long as you have a photo ID to prove it, you should be good to go!
Hope you have a great time! :)

This also tends to depend a lot on the hotel. Some places might make a bigger deal about this then others...

In Europe it's not such a big deal I think. I don't remember anyone ever asking us for info on how old we were, either in Asia, Australia, Europe or the US.... but then again, we might just have been lucky :)

I feel so mislead :(

if you have a credit card and dont look "shady" you should have no problem checking into a hotel. i think ID's are to compare to the credit card to make sure it is not stolen.

I worked in a hotel once....the legal age of consent in the U.S. is 18 (some states lower, but hotel/motel means you are generally out of your home area) and legally you can NOT rent a room to an underaged person...you could be in deep trouble...contibuting to the delinquency of a minor..etc....

The 18 year old thing is true... I've worked with a handfull of under 21y.o. in my time and they've never had an issue getting a room while we were on the road.

I honestly think that you could be younger(not legally) and still get a room as long as you've got a credit card. I can't remember the last time... if ever.... I've been carded for a hotel room.

LOL! I was talking to my sister about this...she said "Even hotels that rent by the hour don't check ID"
(Sorry, I just thought that was funny as hell! ;)
