Hey fellow travellers...
Me and 4 friends are going to Ireland this summer, and we're staying on the SW side of Cork Harbour.
We want to hire a car for the week, preferably from Cork Airport, and I wondered if you knew the cheapest/best way to do this?
Is it just a case of trawling the Internet for deals, or does anyone have insider information?
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
Try www.budget.ie - they are usually quite good!
the main car hire companies are likely to be the most expensive option so you may be better looking for some local car hire companies. There are three that I know of in Dublin; these are Dan Dooley, Argus or Access. These may also be located in other parts of Ireland. I would suggest looking up www.goldenpages.ie and searching for car hire agents in Cork then choosing the local ones rather than the big names and then contact them. They are likey to be cheaper and possibly nicer to deal with.
Who are you flying with? Usually if you get a Fly 'n' drive deal it works out cheaper than having an individual rental. I know that Ryanair and Aer Lingus have a deal with Hertz and the rates are far cheaper than when you book them normally.
Even though it's not going to be cheap, the car rental prices in Ireland are very high.
And make sure that all the drivers are over 23, that's the minimum age for car rentals.
If you go Here and then click on "car rental" then you will get a list of all the deals and prices.
Hope it helps,
