London is a great place to start. You should easily find work behind a bar as most aussies do in the UK! :-D Living in London is VERY expensive and flats can be around £300 a month for a something half decent. Thats about $700 Oz dollars. There are cheaper flat shares around and you dont have to start in London. All the big cities are great such as Bristol, Leeds, Manchester with all their own unique tastes. London is HUGE and expennsive, and can be a little overwhelming I find, compared to somewhere like Leeds which seems small and concise! Although it is warmer!!
Check out http://www.intolondon.com/ for info on flatshares.

im sure others on here can help with finding work.

Travelling around the UK is easy and cheap bus's and trains go everywhere. Book trains at least 4 weeks in advance to get the cheapest fares as the differnece in prices can be at least double.

Er... what else. Seeing the rest of Europe can be done very easily from London. It has four major airports easily reachable from the centre which fly cheap flights - £0.99 at some times - to the rest of Europe.

Hope you like it here. I would love to live in Australia!!!

if you're going to work then office work pays a good bit more than bar work etc - although it might not be as much fun!!

just go into some recruitment agencies down there and you will get something no probs. i lived in london for a bit and i managed to get a job the day i arrived!

living in london isnt that cheap though. its def worth spending a bit of time there but you might get more out of your trip if you venture further afield to cities like Manchester - and if you get far enough take a trip to scotland too!! far too many people miss it out!!

good luck!

Another good job website for office work is;

www.office-angels.com

They operate not just in london, but all over the UK.

Hope you have a good time.

London is a money balck-hole. But you can also find work easily and earn great money (if you look). Theres also a bunch of other great cities which lots of Aussies never get around to living in because we get so stuck into London life.

Outside London is cheaper, but you tend to earn a little less so it balances it out. I would say live in London for a while, then find a job somewhere else- Edinburgh/Manchester/Brighton/Liverpool just for the change. TNT magazine and the gumtree website are the most common places for finding work, and really useful. Dont know what kind of work you want so those two are pretty general. Getting a flatshare AND having money left for travelling is ambitious, but do-able. depends how fully you embrace the London lifestyle!

Enjoy yourself!!
