Quoting Travel100

I obviously feel bad for the children and what I do do sometimes is approach a Child (who I know is homeless or hungry, etc. and offer them some food which I have just bought for them).
So I can do a nice thing and not directly reinforce the begging behavior.

That's nice. I see beggars everyday, including children. I don't like giving money to children. Instead, I give them something to eat when I have, like chocolates, candies, breads or biscuits. Same as Travel100, I don't want to reinforce the begging behaviour. Once when I was having dinner at an outdoor food vendor, a child came to me and begged for money. I offered him a dinner and ordered the vendor to cook one for the boy. He looked so happy. It felt good to make other people, especially the needy, happy.

even in KL they have beggars. my sister own a food shop right where the foot traffic are and trust me if you work there everyday you see the same beggars begging you every single day (young, old etc many kinds you name it)....even kids....first day when they asked for help..sure, i dropped them some, gave them foods or anything i could get and told them to not be on the street too much as it's not safe for the kids...but then...tomorrow they showed up again and asked again..ooookay....then the next day, the next day, the next day, the next never ends
