RTW and airmiles?

Travel Forums Round the World Travel RTW and airmiles?

Hi there, I was just contemplating my trip and had a quick question. Are the RTW tickets purchased eligible for airmiles?
For e.g I notice that British airways (through the one world alliance) sells rtw tickets in economy, business or first class.
Is this considered a full fare economy ticket? Becuase for certain lower classes they only reward 25% of the flown miles.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey jungi,

You can probably get airmiles if the travel agent is a member of airmiles Travel Miles. Otherwise, you could collect them on your credit card. In North America, an American Express credit card which is taken internationally gives you air miles when you use it, as also does a Mosaik MasterCard. Then you collect them no matter, whether they give airmiles or not.

Hopefully, that helps.

I hope that you can still apply if you live in Britain.

Peace.

You will earn miles, as per The OneWorld site, which says:

American Airlines AAdvantage and British Airways Executive Club members can earn and redeem miles, and earn tier-status credit, on all eligible flights except:
American Airlines AAdvantage members will not earn or redeem miles when flying British Airways to or from the United States.
British Airways Executive Club members will not earn or redeem miles when flying American Airlines on transatlantic flights.
