I stayed only two days in Sofia once (on transit to Istanbul). Its quite interessting but you don't understand anything of that Bulgarian (Russian) script and nobody speaks English. My experience (for that 2 days) is that the people are not very nice (but maybe that's because of me, at that moment I had just survived a 36 hour bustrip from Holland (not advisable!!))......

i once took a bus for so many hours i was pissed too so i agree with you with the "not advisable" part, it's better to save for an air ticket if you can afford it

Well, I found out that they were a bit arrogant. When I asked something they were a bit abrupt. But I didn't stay long enough to give a judgement on the Bulgarian people. But have you been in Paris or Amsterdam, I think people from the capital cities have some arrogance (I think they have to).

oh yeah Paris and Amsterdam
i grew up in Belgium so both were pretty accessible. i only went to amsterdam once though and it was for 5 days only but i loved it and i hope i can go back one day...now i'm in spain and i don't know for how long ever been here??
people in large cities aren't as nice as people in small towns or villages that's for sure.
