Hi Clau,

Where are you from? Will u be travelling alone? Also, where are the places (towns & cities) you intend to go in Malaysia? Maybe then I can advise you accordingly.

Hello Clau!
I think you will be fine, just use common sense....same as anywhere...be aware of your surroundings, don't flaunt your money or possesions. Don't frequent 'shady' parts of town, especially at night. Walk like you have a purpose....Good Luck, and keep us posted!

I found a few sites that may help......http://safe.kzn.org.za/safe/3.xml

Personally, i dont really feel safe if my gal is travelling alone in Malaysia... especially KL. Have heard quite a lot of stories about KL and Johore Bahru.

Think the problem is with the taxi. As public transport is not really very developed, you often have to rely on taxi to travel around. At night, it is not very safe as you find that the cabs can go past really quiet areas. The stories i heard from my KL friends are often relating to attacks by cabbies in the night or in dark areas.

Melaka and Cameroon on the other hand appears quite ok as i did not hear any stories as yet.

Unfortunately, i think it is always dangerous for single female traveller and i will always recommend one finding a mate...

I'm not a woman, so take what I've got to say for what it's worth... but in all of my travels I have found Malaysia to be the safest country I've ever travelled to. I spent a lot of time in KL and been all over at all hours and never had an issue. I did tend to use the LRTrain instead of cabs though so maybe you could find an issue with the cabs, but I would be surprised to find that it happens very often.

it's pretty safe...at night anything can happen anywhere in the world but trust me if you're in the middle of where everybody elses are...should not be a problem
