Hello,

I am going travelling around europe for 7 weeks very soon. I don't have that much of a plan really. I do plan to buy an all zone inter-rail ticket though.

I would lik eto go somewhere that is quite popular for young people. Maybe some of the greek islands, malaga, ibiza - not sure really. Is it hard to get to these small islands from main-land europe or is there boats that can take you quite easily.

Thanks,
RR

Boats go often in Summer, but it gets really busy so you'd probably want to research the situation on accomodation in advance.

Sitges, a lively beach community with many late night dance clubs is 35km south of Barcelona and a quick train ride (30 minutes, about 2.50 euros one way) from Sants Estacion. It is often 30C or more in August so be prepared to sweat. The Sitges beaches are well kept and the water is clean unlike the city beaches in Barcelona.

Do you know if there are many good places to stay there?

red: There are many hotels along the waterfront and many smaller hotels a block or two or three from the waterfront. Not knowing your price range I will only recommend Hotel Subur (not to be confused with the costlier Hotel Subur Maritim) where you may be able to get a room for 57 euros including a hearty breakfast. With some web surfing you may be able to do much better but your room will not be on the waterfront. Even if you do not overnight in Sitges it is still a very worthwhile day trip from Barcelona if you want to experience a nice Mediterranean beach resort (and who doesn't?).
