Hey,

JUst wondering if anyone knows any nice places in france.

I plan on flying to paris in july, and go around europe from there.

It would be nice to to southern france, to a smaller place than paris, somewhere that is fairly cheap and interesting, with some good places to stay for backpackers. Any ideas?

Anywhere in Southern France is wonderful. Nice is great and it has a bunch of hostels to stay at. I stayed in Antibes when I was there a few years ago. I recommend you check it out. It is beautiful but pretty expensive and not very backpacker friendly.

Thanks, that sounds nice :-)

Money is a big issue, so cheap hostels only, but i think i will take a trip down there!

Why not try some place like Montpellier or somewhere else in the Languedoc region, everything is cheaper along the coast heading towards Spain than on the Riveira.

Sharp01 is right, the French riviera is wonderful, but very expensive, especially when you are interested in cheaper form of accommodation. I, personally, have experiences only with hotels and they are expensive wherever you stay-in Nice, Antibes, St.Tropez or other towns
