Hi,
Mmm, interesting question! In the South Pacific, many hotels, resorts and backpackers give you essentially the same experience which many people find a bit boring, as you can read on this forum. Fiji has many wonderful village communities which offer a unique taste of local community life in Fiji which is definitely different to Tahiti, the Cook Islands, etc...you can stay in these local communities as a budget traveller, taste the unique traditional foods the villages prepare for you, and get into heaps of amazing activities which the villagers do nearly every day...it is a great experience. If it sounds like your thing, check out http://www.fijibure.com
Happy travels

Sarah
