dbgomes has indicated that this thread is about England

Anything to say about the London Eye?

Length of the line?
Time of day to go?
Worth the GBP?
Booking in advance?
Visability?

and most importantly, did you enjoy it?

I think i will venture on it, just keen to hear experiences. I heard that booking in advance is needed for sunset time. Anyone seen a good sunset from it?

Daniel

hey ive been living in london for several years now and still havent been on the london eye-too exepensive and its just a glorified ferris wheel!! sorry but thats the general consensus amongst us sceptics!

last i heard a year ago it was about£15 pounds to go on it-and that was from someone i knew who worked there. im not sure if this is the genuine price.

If you do want to go on it try heading on at nightime as you get the great view of the lights.

enjoy!

The London Eye is a big rip-off. Why pay so much money for a big ferris wheel? Visibility? You're talking about London here; the visibility is often poor even without having to look through a layer of thick plastic. But, I'm glad that I did it, just for the sake of saying that I did it (pathetic, I know).

I went on the London Eye about 2 years ago, and I really enjoyed it!.
I thought it was a excellent and unique way to get a birds eye view of the capital!!

The pods are surprisingly large, and you hardly feel like you are moving, - I for one HATE ferris wheels and wasn't looking forward to going on AT ALL, I felt safe, and I feel it would be wrong to trivialise the Eye by stating 'its just like a ferris wheel'.

I went mid week, and there was hardly any queue so had a minimal wait, but I have seen to queues at the weekend and they just looks a nightmare!!!!!

I think I paid £11 - £12 pounds at the time, and I dont feel like it was a waste of money, - if you want to save some money whilst visiting London skip Madam Tussuds, I was extremely disapointed with this poor exhibition that cheaply ended in a cafe and gift shop!!!!.

Whatever you do, hope you have a lovely time!!!

Em.

I thought Madam Tussud's was great fun, much more worth it than the London eye. It just goes to show that different people enjoy different things. So you should just do everything a tourist in London is supposed to do and judge for yourself.

After living here a bit I went on it with a friend that came to visit and it was worth it. You just need to make sure visibility weather wise is decent that day, and London isn't nearly as hazy as an above post decribed. It is about 15 pounds, but it lasts for 45 mins or so. The line will depend, I got on within 8 mins.

I think the london eye is my most favourite attraction in London.

You book tickets online and get allocated a time solt. when you get there you notice a huuuuuuuuuuge queue and think "bloody hell Im not waiting in this". Its only when you join the queue that you find that the time you have been allocated has matched exactly when you get on you "pod" excatly as they said! Brilliant! It just works perfectly!

You get to see the whole of london as well as marvel at the eyes clever engineering!

I love it!! Definately worth going on.

I really like the London Eye but i have to say it probably something you do once and then you are done with it. Probably the same as the Eifel tower.

You can find some more info here and also some user impressions (more are welcome) http://www.ghptravel.com/htm/atra/at58.htm

Greetings,
George

If you just want to get a great view of London, you could go to The Monument. It's loads cheaper than the london eye, but you do have to walk up a long spiral staircase to the top. They give you a certificate when you get down as well!! If you do go to the London eye, don't worry too much if its cloudy you can still see quite a long way, and all the main sites are fairly close anyway. And yes, I did enjoy it, but I'm not sure its worth the money.

good replys there people. just goes to show, that we are all different with some people loving it and others not so much. As i said, i will probably take the time out to do it next year when in london.

If there is anyone else out there with an opinion, post away!!
