I went on it in october and thought it was well worth it. I'm a sucker for skyline photos and took the opportunity whenever it arose.
best time to go...I'd say just before sunset, that's when we went.

It is 15 pounds and is maybe a bit of a rip-off, but I quite enjoyed it (have been twice). Remember not to go if it's cloudy or raining, 'cause you'll hardly see anything and London looks really dull when it's grey.

Its good to go up on a clear night to see everything illuminated, I thought that was better than during the day.

We went on the eye on a lovely sunny evening last july and I loved it. There are great views of the houses of parliament, buckingham palace, st pauls cathedral and the 'erotic gherkin' as our friend likes to call it! And for once in london i felt a sense of being able to breathe, despite the pods being a bit clammy on a hot day! It's also really close to the national theatre so, with a bit of spontaneity and sprinting, 10 minutes after we hopped off the wheel we were sat in the theatre watching a hilarious performance of 'a funny thing happened on the way to the forum' which cost us just ten quid. I think we were waiting in the queue for about 15 mins but i was with my sister and we have a knack of keeping each other entertained in a crazy stylee, so for us the queuing time whizzed by. Not so sure about the other poor sods queuing who had to listen to our manic banter though! SO, as long as it's not raining and you're not in a pod with sweaty armpitted people and there aren't two utter weirdo's in the queue (you have been warned) definitely definitely go on the london eye!
