emmy: I like Copenhagen (in August when it gets dark very late) and I really like Madrid (any month but August unless you like to sweat). Den Hague is a nice day trip from Amsterdam and Brussels is a nice city if you enjoy good food and drink (and chocolate).

I'd definately say;

  • Rome, so much to see and do
  • Warsaw, amazing city
  • Moscow - if you go that far, I'd add on a trip to St Petersburg as well. It's defiately worth it.
  • Paris, great culture, great museums, great shopping, and great food - what more could you want :)

I enjoyed Prague (Cracow will be an alternative) - both packed with tourists summer time.

I almost went to Prague and realized my long-time dream, while now, it is still a city that I dream of. How I wish I could be there when I`m still young.:)

I know it's not a capital, but Barcelona is definately not one to be missed.

Agree! Barcelona is so impressive! I`ve listed it as one of my favorites.

My fav's are:

Copenhagen very beautiful in the summer.
Madrid great vibe.
Brussels very cool and shappy chic.
Vienna just lovely!

Sounds like a good idea - all of the above cities are great for long weekends.

The place ive been recommending to family and friends after being there last year is def Budapest. Is a beautiful city and plenty to see and do, whether on a budget or splurging. Warsaw is nice, but Krakow is better. Madrid is nice, but i think Barcelona is better. Ljubljana is another really nice and up and coming captial of eastern europe.
