Can someone provide insight on SilkAir? Are they reliable? Has anyone used the on-line ticket purchase option? Did you have any problems?
I currently have a refundable ticket on Malaysia Air -- from Singapore to Phuket --- but it cost $600........I found one from Sing to Phuket on SilkAir for $270........That is a better option -- considering the airline is good.
Any experiences to be shared?
Have you checked AirAsia?
you can get budget flights for some 100 ringits each way
I've never tried the silkair.
You can find other low cost airlines that fly from singapore to Phuket eg..Tigerair..
It's only SGD 75.98 for one way.
Check the website at Tigerairways
If you choose to fly SilkAir, they're fine. They are Singapore Airlines local carrier so you get food, drinks, allocated seats etc.
Yup, Silkair is reliable and is a full carrier. U get refreshments. Currently, only Tiger Airways (budget airline) flies to phuket from singapore.
The story of Schapelle Corby is not all that unfamiliar. Like her, I travelled from Australia to Indonesia and experienced problems with baggage. Ms Corby arrived and discovered a bag full of drugs, whereas I arrived in Indonesia and found not the same, but nothing at all. My baggage containing valuable documents disappeared while in the care of the airline without a trace. Perhaps we were both victims of an elaborate conspiracy. The responsible party in this case was Silk Air. One might ask who was better off, Ms Corby or myself. We have suffered at the hands of others and this is an injustice of scandalous proportions. My experience with the airline suggested lack of care and poor security. Travellers are advised to take note of how things can turn horribly wrong in similar circumstances and carefully select a carrier. Now, I would not fly again with the same airline because of what had happened and the treatment post incident, which was, in my option, a disgrace. Notwithstanding, I was fortunate, I did not to receive a life sentence.
