I have travelled there (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua) in 2000. I changed for dollars before departing and used them in these countries.
But my question is that if now, with euros, is it worth to change for dollars at home before departing or not?
Any comment or advice welcome
Countries: Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras, possibly Panama.
Not sure about the first 3, but in Panama, the offical currency IS the US$.
I'm pretty sure that in the rest of Central America dollars are more commonly used than Euros.
I would just use atm's when they are available, you do get pretty good exchange rates. Although I thought Mastercard wasnt that accessable in Guatamala.
OK. Thank you for your answer, I surelly would be some dollars (not a lot, just for security) and use ATM when available.
