I will be spending a few days in Cairo on my own, and want to hire a guide. Does anyone know of a good guide, or a good company that I could use. And any idea of how much it might cost? Also looking for a nice hotel for 4 days.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Final question, has anyone done a tour with Oasis Overland before. I am planning to do their trip from Cairo to Damascus, and was wondering if they were any good.

Thanks

I did an Oasis trip in 2001, and I thought it was very good, well run and the driver was laid back and helpful without being overbearing.

May have changed since then though.

Hi Lucy,
I am not familiar with Oasis travel but as for a place to stay in Cairo and a guide/driver check out -snip- Mohammed Nofal and his scottish wife run a bed and breakfast on the corniche in cairo, he also organises travel and tour guides.........he is excellent. Enjoy!

[ Edit: sorry, no promos in the forum please ]

Ehem, you would say that about your own husband wouldn't you? This is not the kind of unbiased, honest opinion people are after.
