I am a new member! My four friends and I, have scheduled a trip for Montreal, Canada from 3/5-3/7. Its just for the first weekend of spring break. I was wondering since we are all 18. If it will be legal for us to go to bars and clubs to drink. Also, any places where you recommend going for 5 18yr olds?
Thanks for your time!
Montreal is an awesome, awesome city. It's the next best thing to visiting Paris, and don't let any of the stories scare you: the locals are very friendly if a) you're not obnoxious, and b) if you make even a small effort to fit in. (i.e. if you can say "please," "thank you," and "do you speak English" in French.)
Yes, you'll be able to drink in Montreal @ 18. For that, head to St. Catherines' street, and look out! Another choice is the Montreal Casino, but it's a little out of the way - you couldn't exactly barhop easily from the casino.
One thing to keep in mind: some Canadian beers are 50% stronger than US beers. (Look for any name with X's in it). So, consider yourself forewarned.
When not drinking, you gotta go up Mont Royal, which is a mountain that rises right in the middle of the city. The views are stunning. Also well worth the time are the Vieux Ville ("Old City), and you oughta take a peek at the 21 miles of Underground Montreal.
Have a great time!
Hey, im from australia and went up the east coast of canada about 2 yrs ago! So i had just turned 17 and not once got asked for ID going out in Montreal! It was great because back home i had no chance!....back to the point, montreal has good nightlife, but too long ago to remember anywhere good, i would be out of date.......just mainly wanted to say make sure you visit quebec city if not already planned. FABULOUS!
