That's a pretty good example of how cluttered it could become Jared.

It's still on our to do list though, but there are other more valuable things that have priority :)

What do you mean with the ignore option summer910?

Hey Summer! Are u thinking what i'm thinking? Check this site out and scroll to the bottom and see if the info is useful at all. I say. just because something is made possible by technology doesnt mean we have to adopt it! Ok, maybe it's just me...

Yeah, that's the one. It's a very common feature in vBulletin boards, and I think it'll be useful because members can see who's online and who's not (helps for the chat too).

If you don't want it to become too cluttered, there's always an option to log in as "invisible", so that you don't show up on Online list.

Sam: as for the Ignore button, it's a feature where, say you aren't particularly on good terms with a member, or maybe he's spamming, and don't want to see his posts, you put the person on your Ignore List. His posts won't be visible to you (you'll just get a message in the thread, something like "This poster is on your Ignore List"), and you won't get messages from him/her etc.

Ah yes, something like that. There is already something similar for spam which is really where it is most useful. Besides that, everyone just has to learn to get along :)

Seriously though, something like this is already being looked into for the blogs and comments area. Unlike a lot of other sites that just buy a prepaid forum package as it's their only communication part on their site, that's very different here and unfortunately it means a lot of coding (also in other areas of the site :) ).... and yes, it's on our to do list which is VERY long!!!

That's fine, Sam. Thanks for explaining! :)

Sam, Peter, any idea why so many of the posts on the third page of this thread (posts by respected members) have been marked as spam?

Could this be fallout from deleting the posts of those trolls (does deleting posts have trouble unsetting the "spam" flags and accidentally move it to other posts), or has someone managed to become a respected member who shouldn't be?

That's very strange.....Sam and Peter are going to end up taking away the facility to mark posts as Spam if this continues.

You should be able to see who has flagged the posts as spam on page three.

I have many students and others that view this website. CupCake has put a direct link to a comment Sam has made in a thread. That's fine, but all around it is comments about some other member/s being naked and otherwise kinky.

I don't need my name attached to a thread that links to this type of stuff.

Cheers
Wocca

Being just a regular member as far as the site is concerned, I can't see who did the flagging, actually.
I'm also not certain if that kind of flagging is a good idea. The wording suggests to me that it's for spam only, and Sam at least obviously saw the posts when they were made in the first place, without thinking them to be unsuitable. (If I recall them correctly, I also am of the opinion that they were some harmless fun. Children get exposed to much worse on tv. (Plus, hey, this is the internet. You can get to a adult site from anywhere in four clicks or less.))

Anyway, that's not my problem. Thanks for clarifying that it isn't a technical issue at least.

Hien is the moderator for the System Talk forum. He was just leaving as I entered the chat room this evening. He has read the personal message I have sent him regarding this matter. Isadora was also in the chatroom too, so she has also received a copy of my explanation.

Like you say, Sander ... not your problem. I have enough problems as it is with internet censorhip in China.
