Zanif, I thought 2046 was screened in UM last month and also GSC. Prefer In The Mood For Love... than 2046 tho these 2 films are closely related. Like the sound tracks of 2046 especially Dean Martin - Sway.

Maggie Cheung's performance in In the Mood for Love is so spectacular (it's somehow pityful only Asians and Europeans know how to judge her beauty and acting).

Frankly, with the class she has, she doesn't need Hollywood. And I'd prefer if she just stuck to Asia and Europe for her movie choices (think of what happened to Jet Li, Chow Yun Fatt...)

I agree that Maggie was spectacular in In The Mood For Love, she had sizzling chemistry with Tony Leung. They were great in Hero too. So much better than that overrated Zhang Ziyi.

I loved the retro look of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow...I know a lot of people didn't like it, but it was an entertaining way to spend a few hours...no earth shattering revelations, no oscar caliber preformances...but a good time none the less ;)

yeap, maggie cheung is a legend. zhang ziyi is quite good in house of flying daggers in my opinion.

i love 'american history x', 'trainspotting' and 'american beauty'.

Of those three, American History X was the one that moved me the most...very dramatic and gut-wrenching.

YES!YES!YES!countless YES... Jun Lei, You really have my hands and legs raising up! What a waste to Chow Yun Fatt...he is such a great actor...his talent is completely wasted in Hollywood....

Here, I am whole-heartedly begging Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung, PLzzzz do not enter Hollywood, plzzzz... am so afraid those over-commercialized industry will spoil many of our asian great actors/actresses

Jun Lei and Zanif, do you agree that Cannes Film Festival is becoming another "Oscar Awards"? getting very commercial nowadays...the only difference is their 'taste' are so much better than those judges in Oscar's, that's for sure! (and many ignorant audiences do not notice this)

Unfortunately, Tony Leung does not agree.

Hong Kong star Leung Chiu-Wai (Tony) has said he would make his Hollywood d├ębut very soon. He is expected to play an inspector in an untitled project penned by novelist Lawrence Block. Currently, Leung is only associated with a biopic of Bruce Lee's trainer, master Ye Wen, by director Wong Kar-Wai.

I think awards of any kind carry a certain political and/or commercial element. It's a way to get publicity, and to get people interested about the nature of it. I think Cannes did try to set itself apart from the Oscars, but after a while, all these events start to resemble one another.
