It's probably a chick flick, but I really love "Amelie". Think it is a beautiful story and the way it's filmed is also very cool.
Hopelessly romantic...;)

Hey Steff,

I'd like to watch some dvd's in German, because with the spoken German along with the English subtitles, it helps me learn German.

What are some good dvd's in German that you would recommend.

I've already seen a few like:

Run Lola Run
Good Bye Lenin
Wings of Desire
Nowhere in Africa

Thanks

"Das Boot" and "Der Untergang" are both brilliant German movies. ;)

I loved Das Boot, but I have a soft spot for submariners.
Some like it Hot is an oldie but a goodie, and To Kill a Mocking Bird,
Roman Holiday is sweet (Then again I could watch Gregory Peck play checkers for 16 hours and be mezmerized;))

The 2 films just mentioned by Cupcake,To Kill a Mockingbird and Roman Holiday, would both be on my All-Time Top 20 list. If you haven't seen either of these, definitely add them to your list.

To Kill a Mockingbird has an excellent cast (Gregory Peck is amazing in his roll), suspence, has you trying to figure things out, and I like the way it's narrated by "Scout".

Roman Holiday is just a very romantic and entertaining film featuring the lovely Aubrey Heptburn, and Gregory Peck again, their chemistry is great.

If you're into strange movies, try Funny Games. It's an Austrian movie about a family being held hostage by two young guys.
Very creepy movie.

Another one I want to see, I've only been told about it but never seen it is "Es geschah am hellichten Tag" with Gerd Froebe. The story about a Childmurderer, or so I am told.

Movies with Klaus Kinski are always quite good, I've seen "Aguirre - der Zorn Gottes", about a group of Spanish Conquistadors searching for El Dorado.

I will try to remember some more to recommend.

Hi travel100,

the only ones I know you can get with English subtitles are

"Der Krieger und die Kaiserin" (The princess and the warrior)
awesome soundtrack too!
"Gegen die Wand" (one the "German oscars")

They are sometimes a bit tough, but absolutely brilliant movies!

When you get a chance to watch them, let me know what you think.

Steff;)
