chorpet and anybody in Thailand:

1. how popular in Thailand (and especially in Bangkok) homestay for tourists is - any known to you websites or addresses?
2. how much does it cost per day/week?
3. what activities it might offer?
4. what is the best area for homestay in Bangkok - can Thonburi, near Talling Chan be considered?

I would suggest you to visit samutsongkram.' homestay at Ban Songthai Plai Pongpang '

Located in Amphawa district , samutsongkram province.

There, you can learn the real life of local people and stay in thai house which dated back over 100 years ago. There are many actitivities such as , sight seeing the local community , how they do fishery , making coconut sugar , take a boat ride to see the firefly , make merit with monk who rowing boat in the morning etc.

The expense for accommo with 2 meal is approx Baht 400 / person.
Boat for sightseeing is Baht 400 / trip.
Boat for seeing firefly is Baht 400 / trip.
Boat for around the district trip is Baht 1,000 / trip.

about first question?

personally, homestay is not much popular. coz it's only for a certain group of people.

Taling chan is also a good idea..nice place.

But personally, I prefer in Nonthaburi province or samutsongkram

I know that outside Bangkok it will be cheaper to stay - how much you think it would be in Bangkok itself?

I know that outside Bangkok it will be cheaper to stay - how much you think it would be in Bangkok itself?

I've heard of one homestay in Bangkok and it's around 300 - 500 Baht per night. Around taling chan, you can see people live along the river and how they do for living.

Personally, homestay in bangkok is not much interesting. Better go outside.
