Hey all,

i'm an eighteen year old male, doing the whole 'big trip' backpacking thing....

Just wondering what you think of my intinerary and predicted costs. In terms of budget, I followed lonely planet's suggestions and added a little extra. I don't mind doing it rough !

wow !

your trip sounds cool. i think your calculation is ok - but i just roughly checked it as i dont know how much you need in all countries.
100US in europe per day is ok tho. for your travelling in europe keep in mind that you have to spend some dollars on trains, flights etc.. to get around.

have a nice trip !

In asia (india, nepal, thailand, etc) i used to spend US$20/day. China is like US$30. To save some money try to spend more time in Nepal and Thailand...
For south america (apart from chile) you can spend US$25/day. The chepest is bolivia (Salar de Yuni - Salt desert is a must!) 15/day and the most expensive is Chile (35/day).

Cheers.

Couple thoughts:

With around 25 days in Bolivia. Think about taking an excursion over into Peru. It would be a shame to be so close to Machu Picchu and not get to see it. You can get from La Paz (around lake Titicaca) to Puno (Peru) in a day. Train to Cusco (10 hrs., so a day). machu Picchu can be done as a day trip from Cusco, though I'd recommend spending the night there, thus 2 days/1 night. Cusco is worth a least a couple days (could be more but if you're short on time). And you'll want at least a day to visit Islands on Lake Titicaca.

Europe: What other places are you planning to visit in Europe (during the extra 2 months)?

Burma: One of my all-time favorite destinations, I've been there 3 times, If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Oh yea, What are your plans for the extra 2 months in Asia?

Hey badcatch, I saw all your calculations and I found out that you are a very good calculator. 4100 Aussie dollars = 2500 Euros, and I always give the advice to go for 1200 Euros a month....so well done!!!

Also Asia is well done, but I would say a bit less wil do as well. You said 2455 Aussie dollar for 2 months. I would go to Asia roughly with 1000 Euro = 1620 Aus dollars. But I would say the more money the better (if you have it anyway, I never have.......or I don't work longer then necessary).

Great travelling for you...Take care and good luck!!!!!!!

How much you would spend in China is depend on which city you will visit and what kind of hotel you will check-in. Travel in the Western China would be more interesting and cheaper. :)
