Hi All,

New member to TP & really enjoying the forums. Informative, interesting & good to see the soh out there... am currently working in Auckland & must admit to tuning in to the site more than work at the moment. Looking to travel to South America in September, so any good tips will be greatly appreciated. (Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Igazu Falls & Venezuela & what ever else comes along!)

Hi Fiona,

Welcome to TP .

Check out my travel log (1998 & 1999) to see some of my favorite places that I visited in South America. Highlights not to miss would be Peru (Machu Picchu), Lake Titicaca, Patagonia (Torres del Paine & Moreno Glacier), and Iquassu Falls.

How long will your trip to South America be?

Hi Fiona

Your trip sounds really exciting. When are you going? I used to live in Ecuador, and I worked for a travel agency out there so if you need any advice about where to go / where to stay in Ecaudor, Columbia or Costa Rica let me know and I'll be happy to help.

Ecuador is an amazing country and if you have the time & money you should definately try and do a trip to the Galapagos.

I think for visiting the Galapagos, that money part is the harder part of the 2 .

The Galapagos is an Amazing place! I really enjoyed my visit there. But, I'll defer to Lucy to give you details about cost, etc..

My favorite animals that I saw there were the Land Iquanas (just thought I'd throw that in ).

But I thought a job was just something to fill in time between holidays & travel.

Of course, I do appreciate that work can be a bit distracting. People tend to interrupt when you are really engrossed in planning your next adventure. I guess this is the beauty of email
