I've been to NI twice in the last 2 years, and it was as safe as can be. One guy threw a straw at me as we walked down the street, but that was as violent as it got. It's a beautiful place with fantastic people - go! You'll love it. If you have any questions, just let me know!

hehe got to watch out for those violent straw throwers!
Have always wanted to visit NI - hope to do so!
In terms of wildlife Australia is very dangerous with the most poisinous spiders and snakes in the world and more crocidiles and sharks than anywhere els but thankfully there are shark nets on most popular beahes but you have to be very careful with crocs. When your in Darwin i wouldnt swim in any rivers
I dont think either of these countries is the most dangerous in the world, but thought Id chip in a couple stories-thoughts:
Colombia- my brothers ex-girlfriend whos Colombian was saying she thought it was a safe country -Bogota, at least- and when I mentioned the kidnappings, her response was, "they only kidnap colombians, not tourists." maybe if youre bill gates, the tourist exception wouldnt apply, but i think the rest of us are safe.
Brazil- My friends friend, while travelling in the Amazon with his wife and wifes family, got shot by robbers. He was shot twice in the torso and it took him a year to recover. I know this is just one story but its the only time ive heard of someone I know getting shot in a foreign country.
However I would definitely travel in both countries, just very carefully... as always!
For everyone, the most dangerous would probably be -
For all Americans, anywhere in Queensland Australia within earshot of Lou.c.
Afghanistan I can agree on, but Iraq? As long as you keep away from certain areas/cities (and especially keep far, far away from american soldiers!!) it is a fairly safe country to travel. The ancient sites are worth visiting (Iraq hosted one of the oldest civilisations on the planet) and the people in the rural areas are very friendly (especially in the northern mountain range). As long as you're not American, that is. Please not that I don't mean to generalize or insult Americans, it is just the truth that Iraq's people learnt to dislike them...
And about Somalia, I can name you a number of African countries I would consider more dangerous than Somalia. Sudan for example,in particular the Darfur region. Or Liberia, or Rwanda... But maybe other people have other opinions?
Matt the URL is http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia A country worth visiting before the tourist hordes start pouring in someday.
I guess Israel is the worst among the others.
